2020 Hindsight Written by Richard on 2007-06-01 15:33:14In the year 2020 I will be 90 years old and most likely no longer driving an automobile so it will make little difference what the MPG is by then. But to those it does matter they have had automobiles and light trucks which have gotten more than 35 MPG and 30 MPG which they could have bought but did not. In 1980 Isuzu had a I Mark coupe and sedan about the same size as a BMW compact which got 40 MPG gas,and 54MPG in the diesel model. My 1982 Toyota diesel pick up was getting 38 to 42 MPG, several light pick ups were getting 30 MPG. There are several compact to mid size automobiles being sold right now which can get 30 to 35MPG,same is true of light trucks. Americans have been brain washed by the auto industry into buying large SUV,pick up trucks. Plus the fact the manufacturers make higher profits selling larger vehicles. By 2020 there will be more vehicles than there are now,which means regardless of the MPG .they Will be burning even more fuel than we are burning now.Hopefully burning it cleaner,but I doubt if they can do much if things remain the same as now. Bush has added a new factor to clean air. It is called Political Hot Air. He makes speeches,although his lips are moving he is really saying nothing. Just blowing smoke and hot air. The State of California is taking the Environmental Protective Agency to U.S.Supreme Court to force them to enforce the clean air laws already on the books. The court ordered EPA to enforce the law. What I want to do is get a law on the book which sets standards on the percentage of unburnt fuel emissions coming out of the cylinder head. not the tail pipe. Where the percentage of combustion is used as a pollution measurement standard. Clean air standards in California are strictly enforced. There you are subject to be stopped on the street,or highway and having your anti pollution devices checked. Fail to pass and they will fine you,and make you repair the problem before you can drive your automobile again. Do not pay any attention to Bush for he is just blowing political smoke to cloud the fact he has done nothing,and will not be doing anything now. Smoke and Hot Air.

Having heard & read quite a bit about legendary Mr. Singh and his Invention in the local enthusiasts' circles, I went through his website and tried my hand after understanding the concept of Grooving displayed in detail. I decided to try this first on my old Kinetic Honda as an experiment. Having cut the necessary grooves on the head, I was wondering how some thing so simple can really bring about a big difference. To my surprise when I started the vehicle for the first time after Grooving I was amazed to feel & hear the significant noticeable changes in the running of the engine. The vehicle now has increased performance in terms of throttle response and pickup. Further I found that there was atleast a 15 to 20 % increase in the fuel efficiency in my city riding. Moreover the engine ran much smoother and less hotter than it used to. The smoke levels also dropped. Some times I wonder if all the 2 stroke Auto Rickshaws in Banglore were grooved ? What would be the air quality to breath in ?
This was a mind blowing experience for me. The only thought that crossed my mind was.if this little mod on an old 2 stroke scooter could bring about such a dramatic change what would it do to my Hi-Tech car. I could only imagine the kind of performance boost grooving could deliver. I made a personal request to Mr. Singh to implement this technology on my car which I thought was best done by the Master than me attempting it and easily messing it up. . Mr. Singh asked me to bring over my Opel Corsa Sail 1.6 ( That has about 45K kms on the clock ) He said he will do his best with what little he has. The car used to give me an average mileage of about 8 kms to a litre of petrol, ( With on & off A/C ) with an awkward intake roar, and felt absolutely sluggish although it has a big MPFI engine in a small car. The performance, I felt was mismatched for the claims made by GM. After eagerly waiting for 5 days, Mr. Singh called me to come over and collect my vehicle which had been transformed with the Groove Technology.
Believe me when I say that the drive back from Mysore to Bangalore was absolutely a pleasure. I couldn't believe that it was the same old car I was driving. The throttle response was simply brilliant ! I didn't have to step on the throttle any more, mere touch was enough to get the rpm steadily increase by itself, without the need to floor the throttle. I can now get the same performance as flooring the throttle half way by just touching and lightly stepping on the throttle. I feel huge amounts of Torque coming from lower rpm's. Torque can be felt even in Overdrive from 1000 + rpm onwards on a flat road. The intake roar has disappeared and I was able to get an astounding 15+ kms to the litre driving at average speeds of in excess of 100/120 kmph on the highway. A/C loading doesn't seem to matter any more, also the engine runs much cooler and smoother. The car felt so free that it made me think that earlier I was driving my car with my hand brakes on. Thanks Mr. Singh I now truely understand the word ' Transformed ' better as I began to enjoy the benefits. The vehicle is much faster, smoother, quicker, more fuel-efficient, and definitely more environmentally & driver friendly. Thank you Mr. Singh my plans to buy a new car are shelved !

This one, if it is passed by all international protocols of safety and standards; it should be get corporate patronage. Then only technology will reach people.

After the work that you did on the Gypsy King, I have noticed the following four improvements:
1. Increased fuel efficiency of 20% (or possibly more if the Gypsy was driven more on highways). From the existing fuel consumption parameter of 6.8 km/litre, the efficiency improved to about 8.3 km/litre. As a consequence, in the last 65 days, we have saved about Rs. 3,450 in fuel costs. 2. Significantly lower tail pipe effluent. 3. Noticeable reduction in engine noise 4. No 'knocking' even when driving at top gear at 20 km per hour.
In all, a better drive. This note is just to thank you for making such a fine effort. I hope to be in touch with you on the Santro as well sometime in end Sept.
