A stock body 71 Nova -  NHRA Super Street.

The engine is a 406 CI small block with flat top pistons. The heads are Brodix track I with a 64 cc combustion chamber. The compression ratio is just under 12:1. He runs a Lunati cam part number 50124; the specs are 262° - 271° @ .050 with .626″ lift.

After several hundred runs the valve springs were getting weak so he pulled it down to freshen it up. The only changes we made were a mild port and polish and one single groove cut in each combustion chamber. He installed the engine today preparing for the races this weekend.

He called me to come over to hear it run, the difference is unbelievable. Before the modifications the engine idled choppy at 1000 RPM. Today he fired it up and set the ignition timing at 37 degrees; it sounded real strong. I idled it down to 600 RPM, his eyes got big. Idling clean at 600 RPM the off idle throttle response is quick and crisp. It sounds like a different engine.
