How do the grooves help to keep the oil clean?

In an unmodified engine about 9% of the fuel supplied to the engine is not burned during the combustion phase. The flame does not burn completely to the internal surfaces and crevices; the flame extinguishes a small distance from the surface. Of the 9% about 2% ends up in the exhaust, the rest is consumed during the other three strokes or is blown past the rings in the form of carbon.

Engines modified with Somender's groove concept produce total clean burn, leaving little unburned fuel to dilute the intake charge, pollute the atmosphere or form carbon deposits in the oil.Write Comment (3 Comments)
