I plan to try the 'groove' technique on my next rebuild of a Dodge 2.2 turbo. Fast combustion allows more of the Peak Cylinder Pressure to occur at the proper angle of crankshaft rotation (15 to 17 degrees ATDC) and could minimize spark advance, thus reducing cyclic cylinder pressure from resisting crankshaft rotation if combustion occurs (too soon) before TDC. I appreciate the reminder that nitrogen is an important working gas in the equation. I believe that turbocharged motors can benefit from water/alcohol injection as well as the groove technique.. If existing motors can be made more efficient, the benefit would be enormous. Thanks for the inspiration.
