I have recently put 3 grooves in the head of my 2005 Summit 800 2 stroke and am thoroughly impressed with the amount of power increase and more specifically with the added torque that I got out of the engine. I was lucky enough to know Ken Podgurney who is a local in Whitecourt, Alberta and he has used the groove technology for 2 years now in many types of vehicles. He helped me(more like I helped him) to first convince me and then to actually put the grooves in the head of my snowmobile. I have not driven it enough yet to realize the fuel savings which I am sure will come but am very happy with the results of the increased power and torque. Awesome!

I read on this forum that grooves should have .10" -.15" wide! I want to khow how deep they should be?
I have the same type of engine and the squish band is really wide, around 65% of the total surface area.
I will keep in touch within 2 weeks with pictures and dyno test.
Thanks

Pat I usually taper the groove from about 0.005" at the gasket surface to as much as 0.075" at the CC. I follow a 5* taper. On extremely large squish pads, like the SBC, I'll follow a flat line groove until I get close to the gasket then taper it up. The SBC set I did was about 0.040".
